The Effect of Time-Poverty and Social Welfare Expenditure on Job Satisfaction of Working Older Adults: Using LIMP & HLM
Kim Jeung-Kun

Abstract
In the reality of Korea, where many older adults are likely to work, their job satisfaction is not only limited to their working lives, but also an important part of affecting their quality of life. Recently, the time poverty of older adults due to unstable employment conditions and the lack of social welfare in residential areas, are recognized as factors that reduce their job satisfaction. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to analyze not only individuals demographic and economic characteristics, but also factors that reflect the concept of time poverty at the individual level and the size of social welfare expenditure at the regional level, and that affect the job satisfaction of older adults. For this purpose, the survey results of 975 working older adults in Seoul and the LIMP and HLM were used. Findings show that the job satisfaction rate of working older adults has decreased at the statistical significance level as the level of time poverty increases, and the higher the spending on social welfare expenditure at the regional level, the higher their job satisfaction at the individual level. Therefore, to improve job satisfaction for the working older adults, this study suggest the need to reduce the level of time poverty and increase social welfare expenditure. It also points out the problems of the recent social consensus that the best welfare is a job, which set policy goals only to secure jobs for older adults, and that policy goals such as expanding social welfare are relatively negligent.
